Present and Past Participle as Adjective
1. Present Participle Adjectives
Present Participle Adjectives are active and mean ’having this effect’ by adding ing, for example:
Amuse – amusing
Confuse – confusing
Interest – interesting
Bore – boring
Tire – tiring
Examples in sentences:
- The story is interesting
- This problem is confusing
- The movie is boring
- Running is tiring

2. Past Participle Adjectives
Past Participle Adjectives are passive and mean ’effected in this way’ by adding ed, for example:
Amuse – amused
Confuse – confused

- I am confused with this problem
- I am bored watching this movie
- I am tired running
